Help for 3.3 Million Natural Disaster Survivors

This website is dedicated to helping 3.3 million natural disaster survivors navigate the recovery process. I lost my home as a result of an earthquake in Alaska in 2018. I know how hard it is to muddle through FEMA applications, homeowner's insurance, and the rebuilding process. If I can make a difference for anyone through this website, the effort to create it will be worth it.

What Makes Me an Expert on Natural Disaster Survivors?

I am an expert for the simple reason no one can be an expert unless they have lived through the recovery process. That doesn't mean I know everything, it just means I have "Been there done that." It was three years, seven months, and four days from the earthquake until the last contractor bill was paid. It is now four-plus years since the earthquake and our mailbox is still held up by rocks and we do not have a gate on the fence. Fortunately our dog rarely wanders, and when he does it is to the front porch.

We had excellent insurance coverage, but somehow it still didn't feel good when all was said and done because insurance will never keep you whole in a total loss situation.
